Terms of Service
Effective April 30, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Round iOS app and the website at tryround.dev. They are written in plain language. Read them. They are short.
1. The agreement
By creating a Round account or using the Round app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The Privacy Policy at /privacy is incorporated by reference.
2. Who can use Round
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services in your country, whichever is greater. By using Round you confirm that you are.
3. Round is a record keeper, not a payment processor
Round helps you and your friends keep track of who owes whom. Round does not move money. When you tap “Pay Sam” inside Round, the app opens Venmo, Cash App, UPI, or another payment app and hands the amount over for you to confirm there. The actual transfer is between you, the other person, and the payment provider. Round records that the settle happened, and asks the other party to confirm.
We are not a money services business, a money transmitter, a bank, a custodian of funds, or a payment processor. We expressly disclaim liability for the underlying transfer and for any disputes between you and the people you split with. If a friend ghosts you on a Venmo, that is between you and the friend.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Round offers a free tier and several paid tiers (Pro monthly, Pro annual, and Lifetime). Paid tiers are sold through Apple’s in app purchase system using StoreKit 2. By starting a paid plan you agree to Apple’s payment terms in addition to these.
- Apple charges your Apple ID and handles taxes and refunds. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Auto renewing subscriptions renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. You can cancel any time from the iOS Settings app.
- Free trials, where offered, convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. The card is not charged during the trial.
- Lifetime access is tied to your Apple ID and is eligible for Family Sharing where Apple allows it.
5. Your content
Group names, expense descriptions, and anything else you type in Round (your “Content”) belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of any of it. To run the service, you grant Round a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free license to host, store, and display your Content to you and to the other people in your groups, for the sole purpose of operating the app.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Round to:
- harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other people, including the friends and family you share groups with;
- launder funds, evade taxes, or circumvent any sanctions or anti money laundering rules;
- probe, scrape, or scan the service in a way that interferes with other users or the infrastructure;
- reverse engineer the app beyond what applicable law permits;
- upload Content that violates a third party right or any law;
- use Round to generate spam, phish, or run a fraudulent operation of any kind.
We may suspend or terminate your account for any of the above. We may also remove specific Content that violates these terms.
7. AI features
Some features of Round, including the cloud parser fallback, use third party AI providers. Outputs from these providers are generated automatically and may occasionally be wrong. Always confirm the parsed amount, payer, and category before adding the expense. You are responsible for the data you eventually save. The cloud parser can be disabled in Settings.
8. Termination
You can stop using Round at any time. To delete your account and the data tied to it, open Settings inside the app, choose Account, and tap Delete account. Or write to support@tryround.dev. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, for prolonged inactivity (more than 24 months), or where required by law. We will give you reasonable notice where reasonable.
9. Disclaimers
Round is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best, but we do not promise it will be error free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate. Money math is correct to the cent by design, but any figures Round computes are estimates based on what you enter. Confirm the numbers before paying anyone.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Round, its operators, and its sub processors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability under these Terms in any 12 month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period, or twenty US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Round against any claim arising from your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law, to the extent such an indemnity is enforceable in your jurisdiction.
12. Disputes and governing law
For users in the United States
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws rules. You and Round agree to resolve any dispute arising under these Terms by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Each side bears its own costs except where the rules say otherwise. Class actions and class arbitrations are waived. You can opt out of this arbitration clause within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@tryround.dev with the subject line “Arbitration opt out”.
For users in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and India
Nothing in these Terms strips you of any consumer protection rights you have under your local law. Disputes may be brought in the courts of your country of residence. We will engage in good faith with any local consumer dispute body that has jurisdiction.
For users elsewhere
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, and disputes are resolved in the courts of that state, except where local mandatory law says otherwise.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms over time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you inside the app. If you continue to use Round after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.
14. Apple end user license terms
The Round iOS app is licensed to you, not sold. The license is the Licensed Application End User License Agreement that the App Store provides at this link, supplemented by these Terms. Apple is a third party beneficiary of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
